In my early twenties, just after I was converted to Christ, I had the opportunity to bring aid to Hungary and Romania. It was the biggest eye-opener of my life. Up until then, I’d lived an utterly selfish life, blinkered to the needs of others. It was all about I, me, and myself. But God used my year or so there to rip off my selfish blinkers, expand my narrow heart, and widen my tunnel vision. Almost every day, I met someone who had suffered and lost so much under communism, yet all they could think about was how to get the Gospel out to the surrounding nations. I learned so much about my own selfish heart, but even more about God’s international heart as seen in his people.

Sadly, thirty years later, I still find my heart defaulting back to internally focused rather than internationally focused. How can we replace our selfish heart with God’s international heart? Psalm 67 is the answer. As we study this Psalm count how many times “all peoples” and “all nations” appear.
